Big action on US’s H-1B visa fraud… Many big companies including Indian giants on radar
Washington. America has launched a major investigation campaign against the alleged fraud going on in H-1B and PERM work visas. A top official of the US Labor Department said that many big companies including the leading Indian IT company ‘Cognizant’ are on the radar of investigation of this big fraud.
Action taken under the leadership of Vice President JD Vance
This strict step against this big fraud related to visa has been taken under the ‘Task Force to Eliminate Fraud’ led by US Vice President JD Vance.
How was the secret of fraud revealed?
The ‘Office of the Inspector General’ (OIG), working under the Labor Department, has exposed this large-scale fraud. Many important things related to the investigation have come to light in the official statement of OIG.
Several employers and labor brokers colluded to submit fraudulent visa applications. Foreign workers were exploited, forced to work at low wages and their money was illegally deducted. The market was flooded with low-wage foreign workers, which directly hurt American workers and caused them to lose their jobs.
‘Summons issued to dozens of companies’
While speaking with Fox Business on Wednesday, Labor Department Inspector General Anthony D’Esposito spoke openly about this action. “We have already issued dozens of summons in this case. We will ensure that we get to the bottom of every single clue found in the investigation,” he said.
“We have whistleblowers who are providing information about some of the biggest companies like Cognizant,” he said, referring to IT giant Cognizant. These companies have already been in the news for issues related to PERM and H-1B visas.
No compromise on jobs of American citizens
The OIG clarified in its statement that such fraudsters damage the credibility of labor programs that are designed to address the country’s real labor shortage. The purpose of these programs is not at all to fill the pockets of corrupt people at the cost of the jobs of American citizens.
The investigating agency said it is committed to dismantling the entire network of human trafficking and forced labor that misuses the foreign guest worker visa system. The organization clearly says that it will root out all those conspiracies that exploit forced laborers and snatch away the jobs that are the rights of American citizens.
