Google AI hub India: A global technology giant By ‘Google’ The doors of our coffers have been opened for India. CEO of Google and Alphabet Sundar Pichai He has made a historic announcement of investment of around 15 billion US dollars i.e. around 1.25 lakh crore rupees in India in the next 5 years. He gave this information at the ‘AI Impact Summit’ organized in New Delhi. The main focus of this investment will be on expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital infrastructure.

Discussion with Prime Minister Modi and emphasis on ‘AI’

Sundar Pichai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday morning. During the visit, he appreciated India’s growing digital potential and said that Google is fully committed to strengthening the AI Ecosystem in the country. “India is not just a market for Google, it is a global hub for technological innovation,” Pichai opined at the time.

‘Sub-C’ cable route for India-US connectivity

In this summit, Pichai unveiled the ‘India-America Connect Initiative’. Under this, a new high speed cable route is going to be created under the seabed (Sub-sea cable). This will provide superfast connectivity between India and the US. Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, believes that this new route will not only speed up AI operations, but also create new employment opportunities by directly connecting various locations in the two countries.

Visakhapatnam to be Google’s Global ‘Entry Point’

A massive ‘International Sub-Sea Landing Station’ is to be set up at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh as part of this comprehensive plan by Google. The station will be the main gateway to Google’s global network in India. From here, India will be connected not only to the US, but also to Singapore, Australia and South Africa. Apart from this, four additional fiber routes will be added to further enhance domestic connectivity.

New initiatives for skill development

Google has taken great strides not only in infrastructure, but also in developing human resources. Pichai announced the launch of ‘AI Professional Certificate Program’ in India. Through this programme, lakhs of youth will be given advanced training in the field of Artificial Intelligence and become world-class ‘AI Masters’.

Data Center and Research Partnerships

This 1.25 lakh crore investment by Google will radically change the data center capacity and cloud infrastructure in India. “We will be partnering with government agencies and local research centers. This will facilitate the use of AI science models in projects of national importance,” Pichai further explained. This project will reduce the problem of network outages in future and increase the scope of AI services.
