Big at box office but in legal trouble, fight over 2 old songs
New Delhi . While the spy action thriller Dhuranthar 2 is performing brilliantly at the box office these days, the film is also embroiled in a big legal dispute. Amidst the success of the film, this controversy that suddenly arose has created a buzz in the industry. The matter is about an old superhit song used in the film, which has been accused of copyright infringement.
According to reports, production company Trimurti Films has filed a case against director Aditya Dhar’s company B62 Studios alleging that the song ‘Hum Pyar Karne Waale’ has been used in the film without official permission, thereby violating copyright law.
Actually, the song ‘Hum Pyar Karne Wale’ is a popular track from the 1989 film Tridev, which was composed by the famous music composer duo Anand Milind and its lyrics were written by Sameer Anjaan. This song was lent by Anuradha Paudwal and Udit Narayan and has been a very popular song of its time.
Trimurti Films claims that they own all the rights related to the music and sound recording of this song and their rights have been violated by using it without permission. The company has demanded from the court that the use of this song in the film should be immediately banned and has also sought damages and other legal relief.
The company has also expressed concern that the continued use of this song through the film’s theatrical release, OTT streaming and promotional content may further harm their rights, hence they have taken up the matter seriously.
On the other hand, Dhurandhar The Revenge is making great money at the box office. The film has crossed the mark of more than Rs 1000 crore in just 21 days of its release, making it one of the biggest hits of the year. In the film, Ranveer Singh has played the character of Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who works for India while living in Pakistan as an undercover agent.
Apart from him, actors like Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun are also seen in important roles in the film.
Now it will be interesting to see how much impact this controversy has on the success of the film and what verdict the court gives in this matter. Currently, with the glow of ‘Dhurandhar 2’, this controversy is also in the headlines.
