The climax scene of the film was important. Veeru (Dharmendra) had to quickly pick up the bullets and load them into the gun. But, this scene repeatedly failed during the shooting. As soon as Dharmendra lifted the pills, they would fall. After two or three attempts he became very angry. At that time, Amitabh Bachchan was standing on the hill. In a fit of anger, Dharmendra loaded the gun with live bullets lying nearby. The scene required only bullets to be filled, but in a fit of rage, Dharmendra shot upwards.

A real shot was fired with a loud bang. Amitabh Bachchan later said that he heard a “hush” sound and the bullet went past his ear. He narrowly escaped. If the aim was even slightly accurate, a major disaster would have occurred.

The incident caused chaos on the set. The angry cameraman threw his camera and stopped shooting. “I cannot take such a risk,” he said. Director Ramesh Sippy later handled the situation very cleverly. Later, Dharmendra apologized to Amitabh Bachchan and the cameraman and further shooting was completed.
