Why is Ajay Devgn in legal trouble?

Recently, a news website reported that the makers of the original Tamil film ‘Kaithi’ have approached the Bombay High Court. He has accused Ajay Devgn of violating the rules regarding the remake rights of ‘Bhola’. This whole controversy has been started by the company ‘Dream Warrior Pictures’ which produced ‘Kaithi’. According to reports, the company claims that the copyright and remake rights of this 2019 hit movie belong exclusively to them.

But, the production house had earlier signed a deal for the Hindi remake, which later became ‘Bhola’. The makers have alleged that certain financial obligations related to the remake rights deal have not been fulfilled. While only a small amount has been paid, the rest of the agreed amount, which includes additional installments and variable payments tied to the film’s earnings, is still outstanding.

However, when the original makers made several attempts to resolve the issue, but received no response, the whole matter became even more heated. He then issued a legal notice demanding the due amount with interest. They also warned that if their demands were not met, the agreement would be annulled and rights would be withdrawn. When the dispute was not resolved, Dream Warrior Pictures took legal action. He first approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), where the tribunal rejected his application. Now, the makers have filed a commercial intellectual property case in the Bombay High Court, seeking a stay order.
