Big blow to Congress in Assam: Three suspended MLAs join BJP, political equation changed before elections, know complete information
Guwahati. Political turmoil has intensified before the upcoming assembly elections in Assam. Meanwhile, Congress has suffered another major setback. Recently, after former Congress state unit president Bhupen Bora joined the BJP, now three suspended Congress MLAs—Kamlakhya De Purkayastha, Basant Das and Shashikant Das—have also joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. Due to this, new equations seem to be forming in the politics of the state.
“If Congress does not change its ideology, it will become empty”-
After joining BJP, former Congress MLA Kamalakhya De Purkayastha said that his purpose of joining the party is the security and development of Assam and the country. He said,
“All three of us have taken this decision after being influenced by the policies of the BJP and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As citizens of Assam, we have to work with the policies of the BJP to take the country and the state forward.”
Accusing the Congress of appeasement politics, he said that if the party does not change its ideology, the Congress will become completely empty in the coming times.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma told about the big day-
After the three MLAs joined BJP, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called it an important day for the party. He said Congress MLAs are joining BJP, which shows the growing popularity of the party and people’s respect for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
There was also discussion on seat sharing-
Before the assembly elections, talks regarding seat sharing in NDA have also been completed. Chief Minister Sarma said that an agreement has been reached on seat sharing with Assam Gana Parishad, Bodoland People’s Front and Rabha Hasong Joutha Sangram Samiti. However, approval from the Central Parliamentary Committee is required before the official announcement, so the final announcement may take two to four days.
Union Minister’s statement-
Union Minister Pavitra Margherita also said that influenced by the ideology and leadership of the BJP, leaders of various parties, especially Congress members, are continuously joining the party. He said that this trend is not limited to Guwahati only, but leaders and workers from different parts of Assam are also joining BJP.
Due to these political developments happening before the elections in Assam, the turmoil in the politics of the state has intensified and even bigger changes can be seen in the coming days.
