Big change in Iran amid war, Major General Vahidi becomes the new super power!

New Delhi: The profound balance of power in Iran has changed. In the last 48 hours, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has gained a strong hold not only on military decisions but also on the entire foreign policy of the country.

According to reports by the American think tank Institute for the Study of War and the New York Post, Major General Ahmed Vahidi has now emerged as Iran’s most influential leader. The silence of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is being considered as tacit consent to this change.

Tension on Hormuz Strait, movement of ships stopped

According to media reports, the most dangerous effect of this power shift is visible in the Strait of Hormuz. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi was in favor of opening this strategic waterway, but the IRGC overturned his decision. On Vahidi’s instructions, Iranian fast attack boats blockaded the area.

At least three ships were targeted in the last two days. Due to this, hundreds of international ships are stuck in the Persian Gulf. Marine tracking data also shows that navigation to Hormuz has come to a complete halt. Only Iranian ships are passing through in a limited way, but they too are not coming near the US blockade line.

IRGC takes over diplomacy in Iran

Meanwhile, the ongoing indirect talks between America and Iran in Pakistan also became a victim of this change. The IRGC tried to include fundamentalist leader Mohammad Bagher Zolgadr in the diplomatic team. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bager Ghalibaf and Araghchi protested against this, but Zolgadra later complained to Araghchi, accusing him of being ‘lenient’.

The result was that the entire Iranian delegation was recalled to Tehran. According to the think tank, any meaningful dialogue with America has now become almost impossible. The deadline of Tuesday (21 April 2026) is near and the hope of ceasefire is getting weaker.

Will a new conflict start again?

It is noteworthy that Wahidi and his supporters have clearly indicated that America’s demands are not acceptable. Media associated with IRGC also confirmed the rejection of talks. Analysts believe that after this military-diplomatic occupation, a new phase of tension between Iran and America may begin.

In fact, the voice of moderate forces in Iran has been suppressed and the strict policy of ‘Axis of Resistance’ seems to be getting stronger again. The world is now waiting to see what decision is taken in the next few days, whether it will be an attempt at peace or the possibility of a major conflict.
