Big change in NCR from October 1, petrol-diesel and CNG will not be available without PUCC, new rules implemented

Tezzbuzz Desk- The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a big step to control the increasing air pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR). The government has decided to implement ‘No PUCC, No Fuel’ policy from October 1. Under this rule, petrol, diesel or CNG will not be provided to vehicles which do not have a valid Pollution Control Certificate (PUCC).

The government believes that with this system, effective control can be imposed on polluting vehicles and the air quality of the area will improve significantly. Many important decisions have been approved in the high level meeting held in this regard.

Fuel will not be available without pollution certificate

After the implementation of the new rule, vehicle owners will be required to show valid PUCC at petrol pumps operating in NCR districts including Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida and Meerut. If the pollution certificate of a vehicle has expired or is not available, no fuel will be given to it.

The government aims to reduce the number of vehicles that are not complying with the prescribed pollution standards and causing harm to the environment.

Digital surveillance will be done through ANPR cameras

To make the rule effective, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras will be installed at petrol pumps. This technology will scan the number plate of the vehicle and match the relevant data with the central server.

The system will immediately provide information whether the pollution certificate of the vehicle is valid or not. If the certificate is found invalid then the driver will not get fuel.

Increased action on old vehicles

Under the government’s special campaign scheme, thousands of old and expired vehicles have been identified. A large number of old vehicles have been scrapped since the beginning of this year. Apart from this, seizure and other legal action has also been taken against many vehicles violating pollution standards.

Officials say that due to such vehicles the level of pollution increases, hence the campaign against them will continue in future also.

Emphasis on electric transport and road improvements

To reduce pollution, the government is also busy modernizing public transport. Plans are underway to operate a large number of electric buses in the NCR region. Along with this, special projects have also been started for road repair, dust control and air quality monitoring.

The government claims that these steps will significantly reduce air pollution in the coming time and people will be able to get a clean environment.

Important advice for vehicle owners

Experts say that vehicle owners should get their vehicles pollution tested on time and keep PUCC updated. If the rules come into effect after October 1, it will not be possible to obtain fuel without a valid certificate, which may cause problems in vehicle operation.
