Big change in the rules of delivery and booking of LPG cylinder, now lock-in period of 25-45 days and OTP mandatory.

An important update has emerged for domestic LPG (LPG) consumers. Indian Oil (Indane), Bharat Petroleum (Bharat Gas) and Hindustan Petroleum (HP Gas) have made many major changes in the rules of booking and delivery of gas cylinders. To curb the global energy crisis and black marketing, the government has increased the interval between bookings. Now you will not be able to book the cylinder whenever you want.

Now a gap of 25 to 45 days is mandatory between bookings.

The government has implemented ‘lock-in period’ for booking LPG cylinders. According to the new rules:

  • Urban Areas: Now the consumer can wait for the delivery of the last cylinder. 25 days Only after that you will be able to book the next refill. Earlier this limit was of 21 days.

  • Rural Areas: By increasing this interval for consumers living in villages 45 days Has been done.

  • Ujjwala Beneficiaries (PMUY): Consumers covered under Ujjwala scheme will also have to wait for 45 days. If you try to book a cylinder before this deadline, the system will automatically reject your request.

Cylinder will not be available without OTP: DAC system becomes mandatory

To bring transparency in delivery, ‘Delivery Authentication Code’ (DAC) has now been made completely mandatory.

  1. When you book a cylinder, a SMS will be sent to your registered mobile number. OTP (6-digit code) Will come.

  2. You will have to show this code to the delivery agent at the time of delivery of the cylinder.

  3. The delivery process will be completed only after the agent enters the code into the system.

  4. Now the cylinder will not be handed over without OTP. If your mobile number is not updated, then immediately go to your gas distributor and get it updated.

Why were these tough decisions taken?

According to sources, the supply of crude oil and gas has been affected due to the ongoing war and energy crisis in West Asia (Iran-Israel-America). Apart from this, the government has taken these steps to prevent commercial use and black marketing of domestic cylinders. The aim of the government is to ensure proper distribution of limited resources and needy families continue to get gas without any hassle.
