- Deleting important features will affect users
All Instagram There is very important and big news for users. The company has taken a big decision. This will affect all users using the social media platform Instagram. Starting May 8, the platform will undergo a major change. No chats will be private anymore on this photo and video sharing app owned by Meta. This is the reason why the company has now decided to remove the end-to-end encryption (E2EE) feature from Instagram DM. Meta has shared information about this in his blog post.
The domestic company surprised everyone… launched a powerful smartphone at Rs 12,999, equipped with a 5000mAh battery and a 50MP camera.
According to the blog post, the end-to-end encryption feature has been removed from Instagram’s direct messages. In fact, in 2023, the company added an end-to-end encryption feature to Instagram. Meta also introduced end-to-end encryption features for Instagram and Facebook Messenger, similar to WhatsApp. But now the company has decided to remove this feature.
No direct messages, stay private
After removing the end-to-end encryption feature, Meta will now have full access to who users are talking to on Instagram. That means now the privacy of users’ chats will be deleted. Thanks to the end-to-end encryption feature, messages on Instagram are private only to the sender and receiver. This message was also not accessible through Meta. But that will not happen now. Because the company is now going to remove important features.
Can download old chats
Meta said in his blog that due to this change in Instagram, if users want to keep their old chats safe and private, you can download your personal media and chats with the help of given instructions. Users have to update their Instagram app to the latest version to download personal chats. After this decision taken by Meta, now there are many questions in the minds of users. The most important question is whether Facebook Messenger will also do away with end-to-end encryption after Instagram? At present, no official information has been given by the company regarding this matter.

Why did the company take this decision?
A few days ago, many questions were raised on Meta’s end-to-end encryption feature in the child abuse case. A number of government agencies in the US and the UK have called for the removal of end-to-end encryption to detect child abuse viral content. Like WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger also have end-to-end encryption, so conversations on both platforms remain completely private and cannot be accessed by MeMe or any other agency. But now after deleting this feature on Instagram, there is no doubt that the privacy of users will be affected.
