Actor Rajpal Yadav surrendered in Tihar Jail on February 5. The Delhi High Court rejected his last plea in the years-old check bounce case. The case, which has been ongoing since 2010, relates to a fraud of around Rs 9 crore following the failure of his production project “Ata Pata Lapata”. While many people have come forward to help Rajpal on social media, his elder brother Shripal Yadav said he has not received the money yet.

Shripal Yadav told Dainik Bhaskar, “If people have helped, please tell us where the money has been given. Even the person managing Rajpal’s account has not confirmed any financial help. If anyone has helped, where has the money been given? Who is it given to? Why is the family not aware of it? If someone has really helped, the family will be grateful. This is just social media talk and if it seems true, it is false.”

Asked about the last conversation he had with Rajpal before going to jail, Shripal said Rajpal had assured him that he would be back soon. “He called me and said, ‘Don’t worry. I have to go to court for a day and complete some legal procedures,'” Shripal Yadav told NDTV.

Shripal Yadav opined about his brother’s loan

Confirming that his brother had invested in the film, Shripal Yadav said, “Rajpal had assured me that he would prove that he had not taken any loan. He had invested money in the film.” Meanwhile, there is a festive atmosphere in the family. Shripal Yadav’s daughter is getting married and the family hopes that Rajpal will be with them for the event. Shripal Yadav said, “We are sure brother will return tomorrow. Our daughter is also getting married at home and preparations are underway. I don’t know which journalist came here, upset, and started saying there is mourning in the house. Oh, how can there be mourning where 50 workers are working and we are all busy? It was noon, the workers would be eating and no one was home. He might have taken a picture to show mourning in the house.”
