Big corruption exposed in Punjab: PCS officer Anupreet Kaur Randhawa arrested, accused of Rs 1.63 crore compensation scam

Amritsar/Tarn Taran. There was a stir in the administrative corridors of Punjab when Punjab Administrative Service (PCS) officer and SDM Anupreet Kaur Randhawa, posted in Gurdaspur, was arrested by the Tarn Taran police on charges of corruption and embezzlement of crores of rupees. This action has been taken in a case of major fraud in compensation for land acquisition for highway construction.

Allegation of irregularities in compensation distribution of 2018-
The matter is said to be of the year 2018, when land was being acquired for the construction of Rajasthan-Jammu Kashmir National Highway. At that time Anupreet Kaur Randhawa was handling the responsibility of land acquisition and compensation distribution in the concerned area.

It is alleged that he misused his position and committed huge irregularities in the amount of compensation and transferred about Rs 1.63 crore to the accounts of people who did not have land in their names in that area.

Case was registered in 2019, arrest after long investigation-
An FIR was registered in 2019 after this scam was exposed. After this, a joint team of Vigilance and Police investigated the case for several years.

The investigation reportedly found documents and financial records that point to the role of the then SDM. On this basis, Tarn Taran police took action and arrested him.

Stir in the administrative department-
It is being told that this arrest was made suddenly, due to which there has been panic in the entire administrative system.

According to police officials, the accused will be produced in the court and taken on remand so that other people, middlemen and fake beneficiaries involved in this scam can be identified.

Investigating agencies believe that more arrests may be made in this case in the coming days.
