Government of India has taken a big and important decision. The government has decided to ban 5 OTT platforms that show obscene content. Among these OTT platforms banned by the government are MoodXVIP, Koel Playpro, Digi Movieplex, Feel and Juganu. Earlier also in 2025 the government had banned 25 OTT platforms in India. After that, it has been decided to ban 5 OTT platforms once again.

Removed apps from Google Play Store and Apple App Store
This decision has been taken by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. Orders have also been issued in this regard. An Information and Broadcasting Ministry official has said that the government has decided to ban OTT platforms Mood XVIP, Koel Playpro, Digi Movieplex, Feel and Juganu following due process. These 5 OTT platforms have also been removed from Google Play Store and Apple App Store. These apps showing pornographic content were downloaded by millions of people. Violation of Digital Content Regulations
The central government has said that the 5 OTT apps that were banned were violating digital content norms. It is for this reason that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has decided to ban these platforms. It is said that these platforms were streaming adult content. These platforms have also violated norms related to digital media. According to reports, legal procedures such as discussions with relevant authorities and review of content were completed before taking action on these platforms.

When objectionable or illegal content is found on an OTT platform, the government intervenes in the matter and also takes appropriate action against the concerned OTT platforms. The Ministry continuously monitors the OTT streaming platforms, to ensure compliance with Information Technology norms and Digital Media Guidelines and not broadcast inappropriate content.
