Under this initiative, kerosene will be made available to consumers at reduced rates at ration shops. Further, maximum two petrol pumps in each district will be designated and authorized for selling kerosene. These designated petrol pumps will be allowed to store a maximum of 5,000 liters of kerosene. The Center has also distributed an additional 48,000 kiloliters of ‘Superior Kerosene Oil’ (SKO) to the states, in addition to the regular quota of the states. It is not allowed to use it for industrial and commercial purposes. Earlier, the supply of kerosene under the Public Distribution System (PDS) was disrupted in different states, at different times. However, its use has now been re-authorized for essential purposes such as cooking and lighting. The Ministry of Petroleum has issued a statement explaining that various measures are being taken to ensure uninterrupted power supply across the country. Given the current situation, the government is on full alert and making all necessary arrangements to ensure that the public does not face any energy-related problems.
