Big decision of UP government, new system implemented in Revenue Council

Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government has taken another important step towards making revenue administration more transparent and effective. Following the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Revenue Council has implemented a new judicial system to resolve disputes related to land of public importance.

Under this decision, now important cases related to government and public land will be heard by a three-member special bench instead of a single bench. The government believes that this system of collective hearing will make the decision process more fair, strong and quality.

Which cases will be heard in the special bench?

According to the new system, now all new and pending cases related to reserved category land, government land, Gram Sabha land, Nazul land, evacuee property and enemy property (wherever applicable) will be heard before a specially constituted three-member bench. Now these cases will neither be heard by a single-member bench nor in the circuit court. All important matters will be jointly considered by the three members, making decisions more balanced and equitable.

Applicable under Section 9 of the Revenue Code

The Revenue Council has implemented this new system using the powers obtained under Section 9 of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code. The objective of the government is to provide timely resolution of disputes related to government and public land, increase transparency in the judicial process and ensure uniformity in decisions. The state government has been laying special emphasis on making government land encroachment free and prompt disposal of revenue cases for a long time. This decision is being considered an important step in this direction.

Regular hearing will be held every Wednesday

The Revenue Council has constituted separate three-member special benches for the courts located in Lucknow and Prayagraj. The related cases will be heard regularly by these benches every Wednesday. Also, instructions have been given to the officers to identify all the pending and new cases related to government and public land and list them before the special bench, so that there is no unnecessary delay in the hearing.

What will be the benefit of the new system?

The government believes that the decisions taken collectively by the three-member bench will strengthen both the credibility and transparency of the judicial process. Adopting a similar approach in similar cases will reduce the possibility of divergent decisions and will also reduce legal disputes and confusion in the future.
