Lexus India has decided to recall its luxury SUV Lexus LX in India. The starting ex-showroom price of this SUV is around Rs 2.80 crore. The company has taken this step due to a possible fault in the transmission. The recall will be applicable to a total of 117 units manufactured between March 6, 2025 and September 29, 2025. The company will contact the affected customers directly and fix the issue free of charge.

What exactly is the problem?
The Lexus LX is offered with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which uses a linear solenoid to shift gears. If this solenoid malfunctions under certain driving conditions, a software error may result in incorrect information being exchanged between the transmission control unit and the engine ECU. As a result the transmission may shift more than necessary in some gears. If not repaired in time, there is a possibility of damage to the transmission. The company will fix the issue with a software update for free.
What are the potential risks?
If this problem persists, the engine power may decrease while driving the car at high speed. Severe conditions can damage the transmission housing as well as risk transmission fluid leakage. According to the company, updating the firmware of the control unit can easily fix this problem. This recall is not only limited to India but the Lexus LX has been recalled in other countries as well due to the same reason. This is said to be the fourth recall for the current generation.

Lexus LX 500d variant in India
Currently, the Lexus LX 500d variant is available for sale in India. It is powered by a 3.3 liter twin-turbo V6 diesel engine that produces 304 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
