Big decision on government land and reserved land in Bihar, everyone should know!
Patna: Bihar government has adopted a tough stance against the increasing encroachment on government land. Deputy Chief Minister cum Land and Revenue Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha clarified in the Legislative Council that a special campaign will be launched to remove encroachments across the state.
In response to a question asked in the Legislative Council, the Minister said that the government is taking this issue seriously. Necessary IDs and passwords have been provided to all the districts for online monitoring and action on encroachment related cases. More than 4,000 cases have been executed in the state so far. However, at present there is no proposal under consideration to introduce any new special law on this subject.
Clear policy will be made on Bakasht land also
In response to the question related to Bakasht land in the House, the Minister said that a committee has been formed to take a decision on this subject. Further action will be decided based on the recommendations of the committee. Describing it as a sensitive subject, he said that it would not be appropriate to take any step without a complete review.
The minister also clarified that unless Bakasht land gets the status of ryoti land, it cannot be converted for commercial use. Permission for conversion of Bakasht land is not currently applicable, especially in urban areas.
Government’s message is clear
The government’s stance is clear that any kind of negligence regarding the protection of government land and land management will not be tolerated. Along with strict action against encroachment, emphasis is being laid on adopting a balanced and legal process in the matters of Bakasht land.
While on one hand this decision is expected to curb illegal encroachments, on the other hand it is also likely to accelerate the resolution of pending cases related to land.
