Big ‘digital strike’ on online fraud, 86 lakh SIM cards blocked

Desk. The government has launched a big ‘digital strike’ on online fraud. In the last 6 months, more than Rs 1000 crore of people’s money has been saved. During this period, the government has blocked more than 86 lakh fake SIM cards. The Department of Telecommunications has shared data related to India’s digital revolution, in which this information has come to light. In many matters, India has gone far ahead of developed countries like America, China, Japan.

  • While sharing the information through its official X handle, the Department of Telecommunications said that the digital revolution has started in India. Here mobile data is only Rs 8.27 per GB, which is much less than many countries. Apart from this, the number of 5G users has increased rapidly. After the launch of 5G service in 2022, the number of 5G users in India has now crossed 40 crores. Apart from this, the number of telecom users in India has crossed 1.23 billion i.e. 123 crores. India has become the country with the second highest number of telecom users in the world.

    The Department of Telecommunications has also curbed online fraud in a big way amid the increasing telecom users and data consumption. More than 86 lakh fake SIM cards have been blocked in India. At the same time, there has also been a 99 percent reduction in spoofed calls coming from international numbers. The government said that in the last 6 months, more than Rs 1000 crore of people have been saved from cyber frauds. The government has taken many big steps to stop fraud. Thousands of frauds are being reported daily through Sanchar Sathi app and website.
