BIG FM Launches ‘BIG Wander Womaniya’, A National Initiative Celebrating Women Who Travel Solo

Apr 29: BIG FM has introduced BIG Wander Womaniya, a nationwide programming-led initiative that celebrates the growing number of Indian women embracing solo travel and exploring the world independently. Built around the thought, “Kabhi kabhi ek safar hi humein humse milata hai,” the month-long campaign brings forward stories of courage, self-discovery, and personal freedom through travel.

Conceptualised as an editorial storytelling initiativethe campaign leveraged BIG FM’s extensive network across 23 states and 19 languages to spotlight diverse voices from across the country. Through its wide reach, the initiative highlights how solo travel is increasingly becoming a pathway for women to explore not just new destinations but also their own aspirations.

The campaign was led by BIG FM’s female RJs across multiple cities, including RJ Rani, Prajakta, Namrata, RJ Juhie, RJ Akriti, RJ Rashi, RJ Pinky, RJ Nilanshi, RJ Megha, RJ Naini, RJ Grace, and RJ Akshita. Through locally anchored conversations, personal anecdotes, and listener interactions, the RJs brought regional perspectives to a shared national narrative around independence, mobility, and self-expression.

The campaign featured more than 15 solo travellers, such as Prachi Garg, Roshni Sharma, Swati Singh Navya, Baljeet Kaur, Priyanka Chandola, Tanya (Tanyaversion), Barsha Mukherjee, Alfu, Kanchan Urusandi, Flexia Dsouza, Ipsa Shah, Aditi Shukla, and Shweta. Their journeys ranged from cross-country biking expeditions and long-distance solo trips to digital travel storytelling and first-time independent explorations.

Commenting on the initiative, Ashit Kukian, CEO, BIG FM said, “Stories have the power to inspire action and BIG FM’s BIG Wander Womaniya is about bringing forward voices that reflect courage, curiosity and the spirit of exploration. Across India, more women are stepping out to experience the world on their own terms, and their journeys reflect a shift in mindset that deserves to be heard. Through this initiativewe wanted to create a platform that celebrates these perspectives and encourages others to begin their own journeys with confidence.”

On-air programming anchored the initiative with 100+ RJ-led integrations across markets, featuring interviews, storytelling segments, and listener conversations around women’s solo travel. The campaign was amplified digitally through content pieces, reels, video conversations, and RJ storytelling, generating 40,000+ organic interactions across Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube under #BIGWanderWomaniya, with contributions from travel influencers Tanya (Tanyaversion) and Dr. Ipsa Shah. Listeners across the country also shared their aspirations through the prompt “Why I Want to Travel Solo.”
