Big game of sand mafia exposed: 130 cubic feet of sand in the name of 200 cubic feet, open loot from public
Shahdol. A big case related to sand business has come to light in the district, in which common citizens have been accused of openly cheating. In this regard, social worker Ashraf Khan, resident of Gherola Mohalla, has submitted a written complaint to Collector Shahdol demanding investigation into the entire matter and strict action. The facts revealed in the complaint are not only shocking but also raise questions on the administrative system.
Big game in sand carts, allegation of fraud up to 70 percent
It has been told in the complaint letter that about 70 percent of the sand trucks/dumpers running in Shahdol district are cheating the general public. If a person buys sand, he is given 180 to 200 cubic feet of sand, whereas in reality only 130 cubic feet of sand is provided.
Technical manipulation is being done in vehicles
The most serious aspect of the matter is that angle strips are fitted inside the body of sand carts and iron sheets are fitted in them. This reduces the height of the car by 8 to 10 inches, but when seen from outside the car appears full and big. In this way, the full amount is recovered by confusing the customers and giving less sand.
After being emptied the pole is exposed
It has also been mentioned in the complaint that the fraud is revealed only when the vehicle is emptied and its actual measurements are taken. Despite there being less sand in the vehicle, full amount is taken from the customers, due to which the common people are facing huge financial loss.
Innocent people are being made victims
Social worker Ashraf Khan has written in his letter that simple and innocent people of the district are becoming victims of this fraud. This kind of fraud is hurting the dreams of people who dream of building their own house with their lifetime earnings.
Highway and trolley system are also causing problems
The complaint has revealed another ploy of the sand traders. It has been told that traders bring sand from Haiwa and drop it at one place, then the same sand is transported to different customers through small trolleys. 5 to 6 trips are made from the sand of one haiva and sold, due to which the profit increases manifold.
Rural and unknown people are most affected
It has also been said in the letter that due to lack of information, people of rural and poor sections are unable to understand this fraud. If they empty the car and measure the length and width, the truth can come out, but most of the people are unable to do so and become victims of fraud.
There is also a big difference in the price, Rs 8000 is being charged for sand worth Rs 5000. According to the complaint, up to Rs 8000 is being charged from the general public for sand, whereas the actual price should be around Rs 5000. That is, a double whammy is being achieved by charging higher prices along with providing less quantity.
Demand for strict action from the administration
Social worker Ashraf Khan has demanded from the Collector that all the sand vehicles running in the district, especially the 912 model dumpers, should be investigated and strict action should be taken against the guilty traders. Besides, it should also be ensured that in future no businessman can loot the hard-earned money of the common people in this manner.
Information also given to concerned departments
Information about this entire matter has also been given to the District Mineral Officer and officials of the Weights and Measures Department, so that joint action can be taken to stop this illegal business. Public outrage, waiting for action. After this matter came to light, there is an atmosphere of anger among the people in the area. Now all eyes are on the administration to see how long will this illegal and fraudulent business be curbed. Now the big question is whether the administration will take this complaint seriously and take concrete action or will this game of sand mafias continue like this?
