Big initiative of Central Government, good news for farmers
New Delhi. The Central Government has launched an important scheme for small and marginal farmers, which aims to ensure economic security in their old age. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana (PM-KMY), farmers will now be able to get a pension of Rs 3,000 every month after completing 60 years of age.
This scheme is especially for those farmers whose income is not stable and who are not able to save enough for their future. Most of the small farmers in rural areas find it difficult to do farming as they grow older. Keeping this in mind, the government has implemented this pension scheme so that they can live with dignity in old age.
Conditions to apply
Some essential conditions have been laid down to join the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana:
At the time of applying, the age of the farmer should be between 18 to 40 years.
The farmer should have agricultural land up to two hectares.
The land documents should be registered in the government records.
The younger the age the farmer joins the scheme, the lower the monthly premium he will have to pay.
How to apply
To avail the benefits of the scheme, the farmer will have to go to his nearest Common Service Center (CSC) and get registered. After this, monthly premium will have to be deposited from Rs 55 to Rs 200 according to age. If farmers wish, this premium can also be paid from the amount received from PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. After registration, the farmer will start getting a pension of Rs 3,000 every month directly in his bank account after he completes 60 years of age. This will provide financial stability and self-reliance to farmers in old age.
