Big negligence in Noida hospital, syringes containing animals were procured instead of patients.
Up news: A surprising case has come to light from the District Hospital of Noida, which has raised serious questions on the health system. When the consignment of syringes ordered for the treatment of patients reached the hospital, it was found that they were veterinary syringes made for use not by humans but by animals. This order of about 60,000 syringes was placed by mistake.
Despite three levels of investigation, the mistake was not caught
This entire matter is of 25th December 2025, when the hospital administration placed the order to a Lucknow agency through the government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal. According to the rules, the file first goes to the pharmacist, then to the store in-charge and finally to the CMS. The surprising thing is that despite investigation at all three levels, no one noticed that ‘Veterinary Syringe’ was written in the order.
Up news: As soon as the supply arrived, it was exposed, created a stir
When the supplies reached Noida and the boxes were opened in the store, this gross negligence was revealed. It was clearly written on the packet that these syringes are only for animals. As soon as this matter came to light, there was panic in the hospital administration. If this mistake was not caught in time, the lives of the patients could have been at stake.
Up news: Hospital administration said ‘human error’
On this matter, CMS of the hospital Ajay Rana has called it ‘human error’. They say that the mistake was detected as soon as the supply arrived and neither any payment was made nor the goods were used. The order was returned immediately.
Now big questions are being raised on the system
Up news: This incident shows not just one mistake but the negligence of the entire system. In a hospital where hundreds of people come for treatment every day, this kind of lapse is a matter of concern. The question is that when investigation is done at three levels, then how did such a big mistake happen and how can such incidents be prevented in future. Of What steps will be taken for this?
