What exactly will the company do?
The contract was awarded to Adani Harbor International FZCO, a subsidiary of APSEZ, through a global tender process with a consortium of Argentina’s Meridian Group. Project Developer, Southern Energy S.A. The contract was awarded following a global competitive tender submitted by SESA. Under the agreement, the Adani-Meridian consortium will provide full marine services for LNG carriers operating from the project site. These include tugboat operations, offshore logistics and supply support, and personnel transfer services. Four high-class tugboats, one anchor handling tug supply vessel and one crew boat will be used for this work.
According to the information presented, the investment related to this contract is estimated to be approximately 70 million dollars. Simply put, Adani Ports will be responsible for the safe transportation of large gas-carrying vessels to the Argentine coast. The company will deploy four specialized tugboats and crew boats for this purpose. The work on this project is expected to start in September 2027.
Why is contract important?
After Israel and Sri Lanka, the Adani Group has entered the South American market for the first time. The company aims to become the world’s largest operator by 2030. Under the agreement, Adani Ports will receive a fixed income of $7 million annually. The news is important for India, as it could boost gas exports from Argentina in the future.
