Internet speed findings to affect over 700 million users, here are must-know updates before your recharge

Only 16 percent of 5G users are utilizing the less congested 700 MHz frequency, while 84 percent of users are on the more crowded 3.5 GHz band, as per reports.

New Delhi: We have some important news for the Jio and Airtel users regarding the 5G services. A recent report by Opensignal said that at the time when both these companies launched their 5G network services in 2022, they promised speeds of up to 1 Gbps. However, users are now experiencing significantly lower speeds.

Networks like Jio and Airtel are witnessing network congestion as more people using 5G services. With the increasing number of 5G users and the availability of unlimited data plans, people are using the internet more than ever before, which has negatively impacted speeds.

Only 16 percent of 5G users are utilizing the less congested 700 MHz frequency, while 84 percent of users are on the more crowded 3.5 GHz band, as per reports. Currently, Airtel users are getting a speed of around 240 Mbps, while Jio users are receiving an average speed of 225 Mbps.

Opensignal’s report includes data from June to August, covering major telecom companies like Airtel, Jio, and others, while Vodafone-Idea and BSNL are still in the trial phase.

Airtel’s strategy includes managing network traffic more efficiently by utilizing mid-band spectrum. Both companies are moving towards new technology that will rely less on the older 4G network, providing users with a better and faster experience in the future.
