According to a latest report by ESPNcricinfo, Virat Kohli is going to appear at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru on June 22 for the final fitness assessment of his recovery from hamstring injury. The Indian sports science and medical team will closely assess his health and match fitness before the very important ODI series against England from July 14 to 19. Only after getting the green signal from the experts, they will get a flight ticket to England, the hope for which seems very strong. Initial treatment was done in London, the first phase of rehabilitation was completed. India Today report quoted an official source as saying that Virat’s right hamstring injury was taken seriously just after the IPL. He was initially assessed thoroughly by expert doctors and the CoE medical team based in London, following which he was given a specific schedule for the initial phase of rehabilitation. The source further confirmed that Virat has completed his initial rehab with utmost discipline and will now report to the Chief Physio on June 22, 2026 for final clearance and further training programme. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar had given hints, had said – ‘Can be fit till England series’ A few days ago, when young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal was included in the team as a replacement for Virat Kohli for the Afghanistan ODI series, then chief selector Ajit Agarkar had talked about Kohli’s injury in a press conference. Giving a hint, Agarkar had said- "After the injury in the IPL final, we did not know the initial time frame, but according to the indications, Virat can be fully fit by the ODI series against England. However, until the final report of the physio comes, we cannot say anything for sure." Now the new update seems to confirm the same statement of Agarkar.
