Big news for the people of Greater Noida West! Major changes in metro project, know where stations will be built now
Noida News: Relief news has emerged for lakhs of people of Noida and Greater Noida West. The long pending metro project will be prepared afresh. Noida Metro Rail Corporation has started the process of making a new detailed project report by making changes in the proposed metro route from Sector-51 to Greater Noida West. In fact, the DPR that was prepared earlier was returned with objections by the Central Government. After this, now the entire project is being redesigned so that it can be approved soon.
Earlier about 11 stations were proposed on this route, but now it has been shortened. Under the new plan, five stations will be built on the approximately 7:30 kilometer long route. These stations have been proposed around Sector-61, Sector-70, Sector-122, Sector-123 and Kisan Chowk of Greater Noida West. Officials believe that making the project small and practical will make it easier to get approval and the cost will also be controlled.
Why did the old plan fail?
The old plan of the metro route was stuck due to many reasons. The biggest problem was that there was difficulty in accommodating different projects on the same corridor. Apart from this, the plan of Namo Bharat from Ghaziabad to Jewar Airport via Greater Noida also came to light, due to which questions were raised on the utility and design of the metro route, in such a situation, the Central Government had raised objection on the old DPR and rejected it.
Work on two more big projects regarding metro expansion in Noida is going on at a fast pace. The first route is proposed from Sector-142 to Botanical Garden, which will be about 11.56 kilometers long. Eight stations will be built on this elevated corridor. The estimated cost of this project is said to be around Rs 2254 crore, whose length will be around 2.6 kilometers. With this extension, two new stations will be built at Janpad village and Bada Ki.
Estimated cost of around Rs 1000 crore
The new metro route from Sector-51 to Greater Noida West is estimated to cost around Rs 1000 crore. Due to the short route, the cost of the project will be less and the possibility of completing it soon will also increase. According to officials, after the new DPR is prepared, it will be sent first to the state government and then to the central government for approval. After this the tender process will be started. Design and survey work is being said to be in the final stage. At present, due to the population of more than 5 lakhs in Greater Noida West, the daily commuters here were waiting for the metro project for many years. If work on this starts soon, lakhs of people will get direct benefits from it.
