Big preparation for WhatsApp: Big change will come from June; This service will be closed
New Delhi . A big change is going to happen in WhatsApp. This change will also change the way you chat. According to the report of (WABetaInfo), WhatsApp is going to change its default GIF provider. Currently (Tenor GIF) is being offered in WhatsApp, but this will change now. According to the report, it has been seen in WhatsApp Beta for (iOS) 26.2.10.70, which is available in the TestFlight Beta Program.
API service will be closed in June
Tenor recently announced that it will shut down its API services on June 30, 2026. The platform has already stopped accepting new developer registrations. In response, WhatsApp is integrating Clippy to ensure that users can continue to share GIFs seamlessly even after Tenor’s removal.
Users will automatically switch to Clippy
Clippy is a content platform that offers a large collection of GIFs, memes, and stickers. It also provides an official API that allows apps to search and share animated content. WhatsApp plans to automatically switch existing Tenor users to Clippy. Users will not need to do anything for this change. The app will show a Clippy label on shared GIFs to let users know about this change.
Stable version may come soon
Currently, WhatsApp supports GIF search through both Giphy and Tenor. Depending on the user’s region or configuration, some accounts have access to only one of these two. When Tenor goes offline, WhatsApp will redirect those users to Clippy. This will not affect Giphy users. WhatsApp has not yet given any information about the date of this migration. It is believed that it will be completed before July 1. Let us tell you that this feature is currently being offered in beta version and in the coming days its stable version can be released for everyone.
