To provide remunerative prices to farmers, the government had announced in the Union Budget 2018-19 that the MSP of all essential crops will be fixed at a level of at least 1.5 times the average cost of production across India. For the year 2026 season, the MSP of fair average quality (Fair Average Quality) of milling copra has been fixed at Rs 12,027 per quintal and the MSP of ball copra has been fixed at Rs 12,500 per quintal.
The MSP for the year 2026 season is higher by Rs 445 per quintal for milling copra and Rs 400 per quintal for ball copra compared to the last season. The government has increased the MSP of milling copra and ball copra from Rs 5,250 per quintal and Rs 5,500 per quintal, respectively, for marketing season 2014 to Rs 12,027 per quintal and Rs 12,500 per quintal, respectively, for marketing season 2026, an increase of 129 per cent and 127 per cent, respectively.
These will be the benefits
To ensure better and more remunerative prices to coconut growers through higher MSP.
To encourage farmers to increase copra production, so that the increasing demand for coconut products can be met domestically and internationally.

A relatively higher MSP will not only provide better profits to coconut growers but will also encourage farmers to increase copra production to meet the growing demand for coconut products domestically and internationally.
National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED) and National Cooperative Consumers Federation (NCCF) will continue to function as Central Nodal Agencies (CNAs) for procurement of copra under the Price Support Scheme (PSS).
