Big relief to the women of Punjab, big investment of Rs 2042 crore on free travel – Dr. Baljeet Kaur
Punjab Investment: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is continuously taking concrete and people-friendly steps for the empowerment of women, which are bringing real change in their lives.
Giving information, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that approximately Rs 2042 crore has been spent for free bus travel for women from the financial year 2022-23 to 2025-26. This includes Rs 495 crore during the year 2022-23, Rs 497.50 crore in 2023-24, Rs 450 crore in 2024-25 and Rs 600 crore in 2025-26.
Facility not limited to free travel
He further informed that under this scheme, about 1 crore 20 lakh women from all over Punjab are availing the benefit of free bus trips every month, which clearly shows the popularity and effectiveness of this scheme. The Social Security Minister said that this facility is not limited to just free travel, but it has brought a new wave of freedom and confidence in the lives of women. Now women are easily accessing education, employment and health services without any financial worries, making them more self-reliant and empowered.
Empowerment of women, the cornerstone of society
Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that empowerment of women is the cornerstone of a progressive society and the Punjab government is working with full commitment in this direction. He said that in the coming times, more effective and public-friendly initiatives will continue for the welfare of women.
