Big revelation of black marketing of urea: Fertilizer was being sold on license in someone else’s name, 121 bags missing, case registered against two
Gorakhpur- A serious case of black marketing of urea has come to light in the Sahjanwan police station area during a raid by the District Agriculture Department on the complaint of farmers of the district. Urea was being sold illegally at a fertilizer store in Jogiakol with the help of a license issued in the name of another person. During investigation, a large quantity of urea fertilizer was found missing, after which the police registered a case against two accused under the Essential Commodities Act.
According to the information received, urea was not being provided to the farmers at the prescribed rate from the Menmers Nishad fertilizer store located in Jogiakol village of Sahajanwan police station area. Regarding this, farmers of the area, Triyugi Narayan Upadhyay, Ram Prasad Yadav, Phoolchand Yadav (resident of Kuavalkala), Jai Prakash Tiwari (Ujjikhor) and Purushottam Choubey (Bhitha) had made a written complaint to the District Agriculture Officer, Gorakhpur. The farmers had alleged that the shop operator was doing black marketing and urea was being sold openly at higher prices.
Taking the complaint seriously, a raid was conducted on the fertilizer store on December 18 under the leadership of District Agriculture Officer DP Singh. During the raid, IFM portal investigation revealed the fact that a total of 146 bags of urea were shown to be lifted by Coromandel International Limited, whereas only 121 bags were found available on the spot. No account of the remaining 25 bags of urea was found, which confirmed black marketing.
A thorough investigation of the documents revealed another shocking revelation. The license to sell urea was issued in the name of Murlidhar Singh, while Dinesh Nishad son of Bhagirathi Nishad was found selling fertilizer at the shop. This clearly falls under the category of violation of rules and illegal trade.
On the complaint of District Agriculture Officer DP Singh, Sahjanwan police has registered a case against accused Dinesh Nishad and licensee Muralidhar Singh under Section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act 1955. Police have started investigating the matter and further action is being taken. After this action, satisfaction is being seen among the farmers of the area. Farmers have demanded from the administration that strict action should be taken against such black marketeers, so that they can get relief from the shortage and plunder of fertilizers.
