Big shock to cricket fans! Afghanistan’s star fast bowler lost due to prolonged illness, died at the age of 38 in Delhi

Digital Desk. A very sad news has come out from the cricket world. Former Afghanistan fast bowler Shapoor Zadran died on July 7 after a prolonged illness. He was admitted in the ICU of a Delhi hospital and was suffering from a rare and serious disease called hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). His death has been officially confirmed by the Afghanistan Cricket Board.

According to the information, Shapoor Zadran was suffering from HLH disease for the last several months. According to his younger brother Ghamai Zadran, after his health deteriorated in October last year, doctors in Afghanistan advised him to send him to India for better treatment. After initial treatment, his condition improved and he was even discharged from the hospital, but after about 20 days his health again became serious.

During the treatment, Afghanistan’s star cricketers Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi also reached the hospital to inquire about the well being of their fellow players. There is a wave of mourning in the cricket world due to his death at the age of 38.

Afghanistan Cricket Board expressed condolences

The Afghanistan Cricket Board paid tribute to Shapoor Zadran on social media, saying that his contributions and achievements will always be an important part of the history of Afghanistan cricket. The board also expressed condolences to his family and fans.

Was included among the players who gave a new identity to Afghanistan cricket

Shapoor Zadran was among those players who played an important role in giving international recognition to Afghanistan cricket. He challenged many strong teams with his fast bowling and made important contributions in taking Afghanistan to big tournaments like ODI World Cup and T20 World Cup.

Such was his international career

Shapoor Zadran played 44 ODI and 36 T20 international matches for Afghanistan. He took 43 wickets in ODI cricket, while he took 37 wickets in T20 International. Apart from this, he took 17 wickets in first-class cricket and 56 wickets in List-A cricket.

He played his last international match for Afghanistan on 10 March 2019 against Ireland in Dehradun.

In the T20 World Cup 2012, Shapoor Zadran bowled brilliantly against India and took the wickets of openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag. In that match, he took two wickets for 33 runs in four overs. His performance is still counted among the memorable moments of Afghanistan cricket.
