Big step towards strengthening the education of students, scholarship worth Rs 13 crore released

Punjab News: Taking another important step towards strengthening the education of students from marginalized sections, the Punjab Government has released scholarships worth about Rs 13 crore under the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme. Giving this information, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Affairs Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that this amount has been provided to the students belonging to Scheduled Castes under this scheme during the financial year 2025-26.

He further said that under this scheme, more than 92 thousand students across the state have been benefited, which has provided great assistance to thousands of needy families in continuing the education of their children. This amount has helped the students in meeting the needs of books, uniforms and other educational needs.

Students’ dreams will take flight through scholarship

Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the aim of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is that no student should be deprived of education due to financial constraints. She said that the government considers education as the most powerful medium of social change and continuous efforts are being made in this direction.

He said that this scholarship is not only financial assistance but also an important effort to give wings to the dreams of needy students. There are many families for whom it is difficult to bear the expenses of their children’s education and this kind of assistance comes as a big hope for them.

Foundation of Punjab empowered by education efforts

The Minister said that these efforts being made by the Punjab Government in the education sector will lay the foundation of a socially and economically strong Punjab in the future. He said that providing quality education to the students of marginalized sections is the main priority of the government and further effective steps will be taken in this direction.

Dr. Baljeet Kaur reiterated that the Punjab Government is committed to providing equal opportunities through education and ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach every needy student.
