Big update! Centre raises MSP for copra by Rs 420 per quintal: Check prices
New Delhi: The Centre on Friday raised the MSP for copra by Rs 420 to Rs 12,100 per quintal for 2025. The Union Cabinet has allocated Rs 855 crore for this purpose. The decision was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. MSP or minimum support price is the benchmark for pricing of crops, below which cultivators cannot be paid.
Milling copra MSP was raised from Rs 420 to Rs 11,582 per quintal. The Cabinet also hiked the MSP for ‘ball copra’ by Rs 100 to Rs 12,100 per quintal for 2025, said Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during a press conference. Cooperative agencies Nafed and NCCF will be the central nodal agencies for the procurement of copra, he added.

The MSP revision ensures higher remuneration for cultivators. Coconut growers will benefit immensely from this initiative. It will also incentivise copra production, according to an official statement. Copra products enjoy both domestic as well as global demand.
How Copra MSP rose over 10 years
According to an infographic shared by the Centre, the Modi government has progressively hiked the MSP for copra by over 120 per cent in 10 years from Rs 5,250 in 2014 for Milling Copra to Rs 11.582 in 2025. Similarly, the MSP for bail copra has risen 120 perc ent to Rs 12,100 in 2025 from Rs 5,500 in 2014.

The prices will come into effect for marketing season 2025, according to an official communication.
