Priyadarshan’s statement that the film will not be made this year, rights dispute became a hindrance
Hera Pheri 3: Film director Priyadarshan has recently talked openly about his most talked about and awaited film ‘Hera Pheri 3’. This film is very special for the fans because in it superstars like Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Sunil Shetty are going to be seen again in their iconic roles. But currently this project is stuck in many difficulties, especially due to legal disputes.
Priyadarshan recently gave an update on this entire matter while talking to E-Times and other media. He said that there are many complications regarding ‘Hera Pheri 3’. Some people are saying that they have the rights of the film, while some people are claiming the rights of the music. He told that Bhushan Kumar (T-Series) himself has issued a public statement and made it clear that the music rights of ‘Hera Pheri 3’ are with him only. Priyadarshan further said, ‘All these legal problems should be resolved first. Only then can we think about moving ahead with this film.
The film will not be made this year
When he was directly asked whether the shooting would start this year (2026), he clearly replied ‘Not this year’, meaning fans will have to wait for some time. Priyadarshan also mentioned that the project has already been delayed several times, and now this rights dispute has become the biggest reason. This news is a bit disappointing for the fans of the film because the comedy and characters of ‘Hera Pheri’ series have settled in the hearts of people. It is hoped that soon all the legal matters will be resolved and the shooting of ‘Hera Pheri 3’ can start, so that we can see the fun of Raju, Shyam and Baburao again.
Is it a matter of rights?
The shooting of ‘Hera Pheri 3’ had started some time ago, but suddenly stopped. This happened because a South producer GP Vijayakumar (who is the managing director of Seven Arts International) filed a case in the Madras High Court. He claimed that all the rights of ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise (series) are with him and not with producer Firoz Nadiadwala. He says that Firoz Nadiadwala had only got the rights to make a Hindi remake of the Malayalam film ‘Ramji Rao Speaking’ (1989). The same remake was released in 2000 under the name of ‘Hera Pheri’ under the direction of Priyadarshan and proved to be a superhit.
What is GP Vijayakumar’s allegation?
But GP Vijayakumar alleges that Firoz violated that contract because he had taken the rights of only one film, yet he made another film ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ (2006). Besides, he also transferred the rights of the franchise to Akshay Kumar’s company Cape of Good Films, which according to him is wrong. Due to this legal dispute, the court has also raised questions whether Firoz Nadiadwala has the full right to make this film or not. This controversy has stopped the entire film.
