On Thursday, cloudy weather persisted throughout the day. The moon started rising at 5:20 p.m. but remained hidden behind clouds until 5:30 p.m., when it became visible. Since the sky had not darkened yet, the moon’s yellow hue was clearly noticeable.

A supermoon occurs due to the moon’s elliptical orbit. When the moon aligns with the Earth and the Sun at its closest point to Earth (perigee), it appears 14% larger and 30% brighter than a typical full moon.
