Bihar joins world’s top teams in List A, achieves second biggest win

In Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, Bihar scored 574 runs against Arunachal Pradesh and registered a big win by 397 runs. This is the second biggest win in List A cricket. The innings of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Ayush Loharuka and Sakibul Ghani played an important role in the victory.

Delhi: Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 has started. On 24 December, a match was played between Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh in the Plate Group, in which a big record of List-A cricket was made. After winning the toss and batting first, Bihar scored 574 runs for 6 wickets in 50 overs.

In this innings, Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 190 runs in 84 balls, Ayush Loharuka scored 116 runs and captain Sakibul Ghani played an unbeaten inning of 128 runs in 40 balls.

Bihar’s historic victory

The bowlers of Bihar also did wonders. Akash Raj took 3 wickets in 8 overs and gave only 29 runs. Suraj Kashyap took 3 wickets in 10 overs and spent 31 runs. Apart from this, Himanshu Tiwari took 2 wickets and Shabir Khan took 1 wicket.

Bihar won by 397 runs after restricting Arunachal Pradesh to just 177 runs in 42.1 overs. This is the second biggest win by margin of runs in List-A cricket. Tamil Nadu has the record at number one, which won against Arunachal Pradesh by 435 runs in 2022-23. Bihar also broke the 35-year-old record of Somerset, who had won by 346 runs in 1990.

With this victory, four points have been added to Bihar’s account and their net run rate has become 7.940. The team’s next match will be played against Manipur on 26 December.
