Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s mother-in-law Vidyawati Devi passed away at the age of 90. She was seriously ill for a long time and was undergoing treatment at IGIMS, Patna. He breathed his last at around 6.40 pm on Friday evening. As soon as the news of her demise was received, a wave of mourning ran in the Chief Minister’s family. Vidyavati Devi’s last rites were performed at Bans Ghat in Patna on Saturday. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reached Bans Ghat with his son Nishant Kumar and bid last farewell to his mother-in-law. During the last rites, religious rituals were performed with full rituals. On this occasion, Bihar Government Minister Ashok Chaudhary and other family members, relatives and close people were also present. The atmosphere at the ghat was completely gloomy.

The special thing was that Nishant Kumar, son of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, used to go to the hospital almost every evening to meet his grandmother and inquire about her well-being.

Late Krishnanandan Sinha was a high school teacher by profession and was recognized as a reputed teacher in Harnaut area. His last rites were also performed at the electric crematorium at Bans Ghat in Patna, where his elder son Arun Kumar performed the funeral pyre.
