The cunningness of criminals will not work in Bihar! Nitish government is opening 6 new forensic labs

Bihar News: Bihar government is going to take a big and important step to curb crime in the state and punish the culprits. On the instructions of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the system of forensic investigation in Bihar is being rapidly strengthened. In this series, preparations have started to open modern forensic science labs in six new districts of the state.

Forensic science lab will be established here

According to the Police Headquarters, forensic science labs will soon be established in Gayaji, Bettiah, Chhapra, Munger, Purnia and Saharsa. At present, these labs are working only in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur and Rajgir in Bihar. Police officials say that forensic labs can be started in Darbhanga and Rohtas also by March 2026. If this happens, there will be a total of 12 forensic labs in the entire state, due to which the investigation report of the case will be available quickly and the disposal of cases in the court will also be faster.

Testing of more than 56 thousand samples has been completed.

New criminal laws have come into force in the country from July 1, 2024. Under these laws, it has been made mandatory to provide forensic and digital evidence in crimes in which the punishment is 7 years or more. For this reason the importance of forensic investigation has increased further. According to the police, till now in the year 2025, investigation of more than 56 thousand samples related to about 11 thousand cases has been completed.

Steps also taken to deal with cyber crime

The government is also taking steps to deal with cyber crime. Special cyber forensic units will be started in Patna and Rajgir by March, which will help in solving cases of online fraud and cyber crime.

Budget sent to Home Department

For the expansion of forensic facilities, the government has sent a budget of about Rs 163 crore to the Home Department. New DNA testing units will also be created in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur and Rajgir. Apart from this, 51 mobile forensic vehicles are currently working in the state and there is also a plan to purchase 50 new vehicles. Overall, now crime investigation in Bihar is going to become more scientific and stronger.
