Bihar government increased vigilance regarding agriculture sector, review meeting on availability of fertilizers
Amidst the increasing tension in West Asia, the Bihar government has increased vigilance regarding the agricultural sector. Agriculture Minister Ram Kripal Yadav held a high-level review meeting regarding the availability and possible impact of fertilizers. Agriculture officers from all the divisions and districts of the state also participated in the meeting.
Providing fertilizers to farmers is a priority
In the meeting, Minister Ramkripal Yadav gave clear instructions that providing fertilizers to farmers in adequate quantity on time and at fixed prices is the top priority of the government. Any kind of negligence in this direction will not be tolerated.
Zero tolerance on black marketing and hoarding
The Agriculture Minister said that zero tolerance policy has been adopted against black marketing, hoarding and selling of fertilizers at higher prices. Strict action is being taken against the culprits and will continue in future also. The availability, storage and distribution system of fertilizer is being monitored round the clock. From state to district and block level, the administrative machinery has been fully activated, so that there is no irregularity at any level. The flying squad formed at the headquarters level is continuously conducting surprise inspections in the districts. As soon as the complaint is received, raids and prompt action are being ensured.
Instructions to promote organic farming
The Agriculture Minister stressed on balanced and sustainable fertilizer use. Besides, instructions were given to constitute “Save Mother Earth Monitoring Committee” at the district level to promote alternative fertilizers and spread organic and natural farming.
Mention of leadership of central and state government
The minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Bihar government is fully committed to the welfare of farmers.
Adequate stock of fertilizers in the state
The minister said that at present there is adequate stock of fertilizers available in the state and there is no shortage in any district. The stock available till March 28, 2026 is as follows.
Urea. 2.63 lakh metric tons
DAP. 1.43 lakh metric tons
NPK. 2.07 lakh metric tons
Mop. 0.39 lakh metric tons
SSP. 1.02 lakh metric tons

Instructions for correct distribution at block level
The Minister directed that block-wise sub-allocation of fertilizer should be done on the basis of farmers’ need and area. Also, regular matching of POS machine and physical stock should be ensured.
Appeal to farmers to avoid rumors
The minister appealed to the farmers not to pay attention to any rumour. Adequate quantities of fertilizers are available in the state and regular supply is going on.
Strictness on smuggling in border districts
Special raid teams have been formed to stop smuggling of fertilizers in the districts adjacent to the international border. Surveillance has been increased in coordination with Sashastra Seema Bal. Principal Secretary Agriculture Department directed the officials to run an awareness campaign among the farmers and not allow a situation of panic to arise. It has also been asked to organize weekly review meetings at divisional and district levels.
Information will be available from mobile app
Agriculture Director said that farmers can get information about fertilizers available at their nearest shops through Bihar Agriculture mobile app. Agriculture Minister Ramkripal Yadav said bluntly. “No matter how influential the person who snatches the rights of the farmers is, he will not be spared. The government stands with the farmers with full strength.”
