Bihar government’s decision, 1 big good news for farmers
Patna. The state government has taken an important initiative for the sugarcane farmers of Bihar. With the aim of making sugarcane farming modern and more profitable, the government has approved the Sugarcane Mechanization Scheme. About Rs 34.59 crore will be spent on this scheme. The government believes that the use of modern agricultural equipment will reduce the cost of farming, increase production and help in increasing the income of farmers.
Sugarcane farming will change with modern technology
In the last few years, sugarcane farmers are facing many challenges due to labor shortage, rising wages and traditional farming. Keeping these problems in mind, the state government has decided to promote the use of modern machines in farming. With the use of new technologies, all tasks like field preparation, sowing of sugarcane, irrigation, weed control, pest management and harvesting will be easier and less expensive than before.
Farmers will get subsidy on agricultural equipment
Under this scheme, farmers will be given grants on the purchase of various modern agricultural equipment. These include equipment like tractor, rotavator, trencher, sugarcane planter, sprayer and harvester. With the use of these machines, sugarcane will be planted scientifically, seed treatment will be better and the quality of the crop will also improve. Also, due to reduced dependence on labour, both time and cost of farming will reduce.
Facility will be available through online application
The government has made the entire process of the scheme digital. Interested farmers will be able to apply online through SuMech portal. All work from application to grant process will be done in a transparent manner. The responsibility of implementing the scheme has been handed over to the officials of the Sugarcane Development Department, so that the benefits can reach the eligible farmers on time.
Government’s emphasis on increasing sugarcane production
The objective of the state government is not only to increase the income of farmers but also to give new impetus to sugarcane production in Bihar. Due to higher production, the sugar mills of the state will get sufficient raw material. This will also pave the way for restarting closed sugar mills and setting up new sugar mills in future. This initiative is also considered helpful in strengthening the industrial development of the state.
