Bihar: A marathon will be organized in Patna on March 15 in collaboration with the Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department and State Bank of India (SBI). In this regard, Patna Division Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar gave information in a press conference on Wednesday. He said that Patna Marathon being organized with the message of “Drug Free Bihar” will become an important medium to spread public awareness in the state. The Commissioner said that this year the marathon is being organized with some delay, but preparations are being made at all levels to make it better and well organized so that the event can be successful and effective.
The race will be held in four categories
Anshul Aggarwal, Commissioner of Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department, said that Patna Marathon has now become the identity of Bihar. This year, about 10 thousand participants from across the country are expected to participate in the marathon. Races will be organized in four categories in the marathon.
Full marathon (42.195 km), half marathon (21.097 km), 10 kilometer run and 5 kilometer run are included. All the races will start from Gandhi Maidan and passing through Ganga Path and Atal Path, it will also conclude at Gandhi Maidan.
During this, the participants will get to experience the riverfront and modern roads of Patna. He said that this time Olympic medalist and world famous badminton player P.V. Sindhu has been invited as the chief guest in the marathon to inspire the participants.
Health and safety arrangements for participants
Extensive preparations have been made by the administration for the successful organization of the marathon. For the convenience of the participants, a total of 20 aid stations will be made on every kilometer. Apart from this, there will also be arrangements for entertainment on the route and at the venue.
Keeping health and safety in mind, 30 doctors, paramedical staff and 20 physiotherapists will be deployed in the event. At the same time, the team of police and related departments will continuously monitor the traffic and crowd management. Arrangements for cleanliness and street lights will also be ensured by the Municipal Corporation.
There will be traffic restrictions on many routes
To organize the marathon smoothly, traffic will be restricted on the respective routes from 11 pm on March 14 to 10 am on March 15. During this time, the administration has appealed to the people to use alternative routes.
Winners will get prizes worth Rs 30 lakh
A total prize money of Rs 30 lakh will be given to the winners of the marathon. The prize distribution ceremony will be held at 6:45 am. Along with this, refreshments and medals will also be provided to all the participants. Medals and T-shirts related to the marathon were also launched during the press conference.
