Bihar: Medha Patkar’s meeting in Manjhaul against displacement
Manjaul (Begusarai) Medha Patkar, the country’s famous social worker and leader of the Narmada Bachao Andolan, spoke today in the Kisan Sabha and Musahar Basti Bachao Sammelan organized by the farmers being displaced by the Kabar Lake Bird Sanctuary Project. While interacting with the farmers, Medha Patkar said that if farmers are displaced in the name of rehabilitation of Musahar colony, then the reality of this deception should be understood. Every farmer of Kabar region should read the Land Acquisition Act 2013. You have the right to ask officials whether their land is being occupied as per the terms of the Land Acquisition Act. If Nitish Kumar goes on a political tour with the support of socialists, it is his responsibility to go to Delhi to solve the problems of farmers, fishermen and Mahadalit Musahars affected by the Kabar Lake Bird Sanctuary Project.
In the farmers’ meeting, Medha Patkar raised slogans – “Who will make India, India’s labor farmer?” “Save farming, save life.” May the farmer Bachha Singh, martyred in the Kabar conflict, remain immortal. Long live freedom fighter Ramkhelavan Shastri.
In the Save Musahar Basti Conference organized by Shabari Vansh Musahar Basti Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, Jaimangla Garh, Patna High Court petitioners Saroj Devi and Kala Devi, along with a women’s group, presented the ashes of Mata Jaimangla to Medha Patkar. The women’s group of Jaimangala Garh sang self-composed songs on the importance of Kabar and Jaimangala Devi.
Medha Patkar said that I feel that Mother Jaimangla will not let you be ruined. The mothers who came to meet me crying, there is fire of yearning in their tears. We see the horror of the carnage of war and the pain of displacement. To destroy any old settlement is to impose a kind of war. Eco park is an environmental garden. Only by saving the co-existence of the Mahadalit Musahars, the protectors of the lake, the forest and the forest, the natural beauty of the Eco Park which has existed for centuries will be preserved.

He said that if officials, being Dalits, do injustice to Mahadalits, it would be called atrocities. It is injustice to call you encroachers and try to destroy them by treating them as insects. We request the officer to make his chair a humanitarian one. Those who have been recognized as authorized by the Chief Justice and the Justice are entitled to their own land and their own residence. Closing the school of the authorized Mahadalit colony is contempt of the Honorable High Court. Medha ji raised slogans along with the group of people. “Women power has come, new power has come.”
Medha Patkar met the family members of farmer Surendra Singh, who died after being shocked by the authorities taking over his land, paid floral tributes to his photograph and condemned the attack on national level player Govind Kumar. Medha Patkar raised the question that the state volleyball captain Govind, the grandson of the same farmer who died due to government terror, was attacked. This incident is the result of government terror.
In the event, the artists of Akashganga Rang Chaupal sang songs to protect nature, environment and humanity. On behalf of the farmers, Medha ji and advocate of the displaced Vashishtha Kumar Ambasht were honored by Arun Singh, grandson of martyred farmer Shaheed Bacha Singh in Kabar and volleyball coach Dev Niranjan Bharti by presenting them a shawl.

Deputy chief Arvind Singh, Rani Sumitra, Deepak Bharti, Manish Kumar, advocate Prabhat Bharti, model farmer Anish Singh, coordinator of Kosi Nirman Manch Mahendra Yadav, senior journalist Amarnath, Prabhu Narayan Jha, Rajesh Suman, Gangasagar and farmers from many displacement affected villages were present in the meeting. The meeting was conducted by farmer leader Vallabh Badshah and writer Pushparaj.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary met Medha Patkar in Patna.
In a personal meeting with Medha Patkar, the chief guest of the Ramchandra Khan Memorial Ceremony held in Patna, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary termed the incident of the dead farmer in Manjhaul as a different incident from the attack on national volleyball player Govind Kumar. Medha Patkar urged the Home Minister cum Deputy Chief Minister to take this matter seriously. Medha ji said that the farmer who died due to the shock of government repression, the injured national player Govind is the grandson of the deceased farmer, hence the strings of government repression and both the incidents are interconnected.

Samrat Chaudhary immediately called the SP of Begusarai and directed him to arrest the real criminals who attacked the injured national player within 48 hours. The Deputy Chief Minister accepted the responsibility of providing high level medical treatment to the injured player Govind with government assistance.
