Golden opportunity to become a ration dealer! 4942 new government ration shops will open in Bihar, know the complete process

Bihar News: This is a great news for those who wish to get dealership of Government Ration Shop (PDS) in Bihar. In view of the increasing population in the state and the continuously increasing number of ration card holders, the Bihar government has decided to strengthen the public distribution system. In this series, the Food and Consumer Protection Department is preparing to give dealership of a total of 4942 new government ration shops across the state.

What was the situation in the first phase?

Advertisement has been issued by the department for 2583 new ration shops in the first phase. There has been tremendous enthusiasm among the people for these shops. According to the department, till now 13,794 applications have been received for these 2583 shops. Advertisements for the remaining 2359 shops will also be issued soon.

Why did you feel the need?

The need for new ration shops was felt because as per the set standards, there should be one ration shop for every 1350 ration card holders in urban areas and 1900 in rural areas. But in many districts the number of ration card holders has exceeded this limit. Due to this, people have to travel long distances to get ration and there is huge crowd at the shops. This problem is expected to be resolved to a great extent with the opening of new shops.

435 new ration shops will open

Talking about districts, maximum 435 new ration shops will be opened in Patna. After this comes Muzaffarpur (356), Bhagalpur (336), Purnia (320), Madhubani (248), Rohtas (245), West Champaran (242), Gaya (240) and Siwan (229). At the same time, the process of all 242 shops in West Champaran district has been completed and licenses have also been issued.

How the government made the PDS system transparent

Along with this, the government has also decided to conduct strict scrutiny of ration cards to make the PDS system transparent. Physical verification of doubtful and ineligible ration cards will be done by running a special campaign from December 17 to December 30. The aim of the government is that only eligible beneficiaries get the benefit of ration and the entire system becomes more effective.
