Bihar Politics: JDU taunts on Tejashwi Yadav’s Europe tour
Friday was the last day of the winter session of Bihar Assembly and a lot of politics is going on regarding Tejashwi Yadav’s absence from the House. NDA leaders are busy attacking in this matter.
Patna: The politics of the state heated up over the absence of opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav on the last day of the winter session of Bihar Assembly. The leaders of the ruling NDA alliance launched a scathing attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) over this issue, while the RJD has given a clear reply calling it a personal visit. Due to this rhetoric, once again an atmosphere of government versus opposition has been created in the politics of Bihar.
While talking to the media outside the House on Friday, December 5, 2025, Janata Dal United (JDU) MLA Dularchand Goswami took a dig at Tejashwi Yadav’s alleged Europe tour and said, what difference does it make to us whether Tejashwi Yadav goes abroad or goes to the Bay of Bengal? He never had any connection with the people of Bihar. He further said that the people of Bihar have already “taught a lesson” to such leaders and the government is fully committed to its development work.
Dispute also broke out on supplementary budget
The ruling party and the opposition were also seen face to face regarding the second supplementary budget presented in the House. When RJD raised objection on the budget, Dularchand Goswami said, when expenditure is being incurred then it is necessary to bring the budget. Bihar government is working with its own resources and is also getting full support from the central government. He said that the opposition is protesting on every issue without any solid basis and is trying to hinder the development works.
RJD counterattacks on Tejashwi Yadav’s absence
RJD expressed strong objection to the attacks on Tejashwi Yadav over his absence in the assembly. RJD MLA Ranvijay Sahu said,
‘What happens if the Leader of Opposition is not present in the House? All the MLAs of the Grand Alliance are showing the mirror to the government in the House with full strength. The ruling party does not have any concrete issue, hence personal travel is being made an issue.
He also said that the opposition is cornering the government with arguments on every important issue and strongly raising questions related to the public.
“Private travel is being made a political issue” – RJD
Senior RJD MLA Alok Mehta called this entire controversy unnecessary. He said,
‘Any MLA or leader can go out for his personal work. This is neither a violation of rules nor unparliamentary conduct. The government is diverting attention from real issues by raising such questions.
He said that personal attacks are being made on the opposition to avoid debate on important issues like unemployment, inflation, education and health.
There have been sharp attacks before too
This is not the first case regarding Tejashwi Yadav’s foreign tour. Earlier, many NDA leaders including JDU Legislative Council member and spokesperson Neeraj Kumar had also raised questions on him. Neeraj Kumar had said that on one hand Tejashwi Yadav’s father is unwell and on the other hand he is on a foreign trip with the family.
NDA leaders allege that Tejashwi Yadav is ignoring the seriousness of the assembly session, while the opposition says that this is a completely personal matter and it is being given a political colour.
