Bihar Rajya Sabha Elections 2026: 6 candidates for 5 seats, JDU leader Sanjay Jha claims victory of NDA with huge majority

Patna: Political excitement regarding Rajya Sabha elections is at its peak in Bihar. The contest has become interesting with 6 candidates contesting for 5 seats. Meanwhile, just two days before the elections, senior Janata Dal United (JDU) leader and national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha on Saturday claimed victory of all the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates with an overwhelming majority.

He gave this statement after meeting Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary at his residence in Patna. While talking to journalists, Jha rejected the opposition’s claims and expressed full confidence in the victory of NDA.

NDA busy in making strategy

NDA’s allies have become fully active to avoid any kind of mistake in the Rajya Sabha elections. A round of meetings is going on to discuss the pre-voting strategy and keep the MLAs united. On Saturday, the core committee meeting of the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was held at the party office in Patna.

In this important meeting, Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, who was made the Central Observer for the elections, and Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were also present. Similarly, Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP-Ram Vilas) and former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) also held separate meetings with their respective MLAs.

Who is in the field?

A total of six candidates are trying their luck in the elections being held for five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar. There are five candidates from the ruling NDA, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. At the same time, businessman-turned-politician Amarendra Dhari Singh of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is the only candidate from the opposition. BJP national president Nitin Naveen and RLM chief Upendra Kushwaha are also among the NDA candidates, who are seeking a second consecutive term in the Upper House.

Voting training to MLAs

After the BJP’s core committee meeting, Minister Dilip Jaiswal said that this meeting was mainly called to inform and train the newly elected party MLAs about the voting process in the Rajya Sabha elections. Its purpose is to ensure that no mistakes are made during voting and that all votes are cast correctly.
