BJP candidate could not withdraw his nomination, people closed his house

Municipal elections in Maharashtra are in discussion for many reasons. At some places, someone is disappointed at not getting the ticket and at some places, it was taken back from the one who got it. Now one such interesting case has come from Nagpur. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had fielded two leaders as candidates in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation elections and later asked one candidate to withdraw his ticket. The candidates agreed with this but their supporters did not agree. Now, to stop Netaji, his supporters locked him in his house so that he could not withdraw his nomination.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation elections are to be held on January 15. Elections are also to be held in a total of 29 municipal corporations of Maharashtra. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations for them is till January 2 i.e. Friday. The results of these elections will come on January 16. Along with this, elections are also being held for Mumbai Municipal Corporation i.e. BMC.

What happened in Nagpur?

BJP had made two leaders Vijay Hole and Kisan Gavand its candidates from Ward No. 13 (D) of Nagpur and had also mentioned both of them in their AB form. Later BJP asked farmer Gawande to withdraw his name. His supporters became angry with this decision. The workers and their supporters wanted Gawande, a farmer, to contest the elections from Hazaripahad area under Ward 13 (D). When it was time to withdraw his nomination, his supporters surrounded his house and locked him in the house. His supporters raised slogans and appealed to him not to withdraw his nomination.

Seeing the matter worsening, BJP Legislative Council Member (MLC) Parinay Phuke and local leaders reached the spot and explained to the workers. Farmer Gawande was able to withdraw his nomination only after pacifying the workers. Farmer Gawande said about this to ‘PTI-Bhasha’, ‘BJP workers of the area wanted me to contest the elections, so they got angry. We understand the decision of the party leadership and that is why I withdrew the nomination.

Ticket issued after old video goes viral

Another such interesting case came to light from Pune. BJP had given tickets to Pooja More-Jadhav but they were barred from contesting the elections. Later a video of hers surfaced in which she was seen crying. His candidature came into controversy when old videos of him containing personal comments made against Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his wife during the Maratha reservation movement surfaced. Union Minister and BJP MP from Pune Muralidhar Mohol has confirmed that his nomination has been withdrawn.

At the same time, Pooja More-Jadhav called herself a victim of social media trolling. She said, ‘Wrong information was spread about me and an attempt was made to show that I do not believe in the ideology of BJP. In view of the trolling on social media, I have decided to withdraw my nomination. She also claimed that these comments were made by another girl but her name was linked to it.
