BJP Candidate List: BJP gave tickets to many big faces like Kapil Mishra and Pawan Sharma in the second list; 'Hindu card' against Muslim faces on three seats

BJP Candidate List: BJP released its second list of 29 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections late Saturday evening. In which the party has given a chance to the current MLA from Laxmi Nagar, Abhay Verma as well as four former MLAs Pradyuman Rajput, Pawan Sharma, Kapil Mishra and Neeraj Basoya. Apart from this, the party has given a chance to Hindu candidates against Muslim faces on two seats.

In the second list of BJP candidates, Kapil Mishra, who was a minister in the Aam Aadmi Party government, has been given ticket from Karawal Nagar. In 2015, Kapil Mishra had accused the then CM Arvind Kejriwal and Minister Satyendar Jain of corruption, after which he was suspended from the party. After this he joined BJP. In the last election, he contested 2020 election from Model Town assembly constituency, but lost.

BJP has once again expressed confidence in sitting MLA Abhay Verma. Abhay, a lawyer by profession, is a prominent Purvanchali face of the party. He had won the last assembly elections by a slight margin of about 880 votes. Neeraj Basoya, who joined BJP along with Arvinder Singh Lovely and Rajkumar Chauhan before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, has been made the party's candidate from Kasturba Nagar. Basoya started his career as a student leader. He was elected DUSU President in 1999. In 2008, Basoya was elected MLA from Kasturba Nagar on Congress ticket, but lost the 2013 and 2020 elections.

The party has given a chance to Pawan Sharma from Uttam Nagar. Sharma has been associated with the organizational structure of the party for many years. He won the 2013 assembly elections, but lost in 2015. He has also been the General Secretary of Delhi BJP. At the same time, BJP has fielded Harish Khurana from Moti Nagar. Harish Khurana, son of former Delhi CM Madan Lal Khurana, has been the spokesperson of Delhi BJP for many years. This will be his first assembly election.

Pradyuman Rajput won the by-election from Dwarka in 2009. He became MLA for the first time. He had won the same seat in the 2013 assembly elections, but lost in 2015. This time Rajput will contest again from Dwarka on BJP ticket against AAP's Vinay Mishra.

'Hindu card' against Muslim faces on two seats

In its second list, BJP has given opportunity to Hindu candidates on three such seats, where AAP and Congress have fielded Muslim faces. These include Ballimaran, Seelampur and Matiya Mahal seats. BJP has fielded Kamal Bagri from Ballimaran seat. Bagri is a councilor from Ramnagar ward. On this seat, he will face AAP's Imran Hussain and Congress's Harun Yusuf.

BJP has given a chance to Anil Gaur from Muslim dominated seat Seelampur. Till now Muslim candidates have been winning this seat. From Maujpur, municipal councilor Anil Gaur will face AAP's Chaudhary Zubair Ahmed and Congress's Abdul Rehman. Whereas, from Matia Mahal seat, BJP candidate Deepti Indora will face AAP's Shoaib Iqbal and Congress's Asim Ahmed Khan.
