BJP’s family increased in Guwahati
Guwahati. Due to the assembly elections in Assam, the BJP’s clan is continuously increasing. Recently, former Congress state unit president Bhupen Bora formally joined the BJP. Now in this sequence, three suspended Congress MLAs—Kamlakhya De Purkayastha, Basant Das, and Shashikant Das—have also decided to join the ruling party.
Purpose of joining BJP
While joining BJP, former Congress MLA Kamalakhya De Purkayastha said, “Our main objective is the security of Assam and the nation. Being citizens of Assam, we should come with BJP and cooperate in the policy of BJP to take the country forward. If Congress does not change its ideology, it will become vacant.”
Chief Minister’s reaction
On the process of joining BJP, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that today is an important day for BJP. According to him, this coming of Congress MLAs to BJP shows the growing popularity of the party and people’s reverence for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chief Minister’s statement on seat sharing
Regarding seat sharing, CM Sarma said that recently talks with Assam Gana Parishad, Bodoland People’s Forum and Rabha Hasong Joutha Sangram Samiti have ended. An official announcement on this matter may take a few days, as approval has to be obtained from the Central Parliamentary Committee.
Union Minister’s statement
Union Minister Pavitra Margherita said people from different political parties, especially Congress members, are joining the BJP. This shows their support towards our ideology and makes it clear that the popularity of BJP is increasing in every part.
