Just before the Gujarat local body elections, influencer Ankita Parmar is making headlines as BJP has given her the ticket. BJP has made Ankita Parmar its candidate from Por seat of Vadodara District Panchayat, after which the resentment of the old party workers has increased. The workers were hopeful that the ticket for Por seat would be given to Nayana Parmar but it did not happen. Voting for local body elections in Gujarat is scheduled to take place on April 26 and the results of the elections will be declared on April 28.
Ankita has more than 10 lakh followers on Instagram. She is known for her fitness videos and content based on women’s independence. Apart from this, she has also tried her hand in politics before. In 2021, she was elected member of Vadodara Tehsil Panchayat. In September 2023, she became the Chairman of Vadodara Tehsil Panchayat, after which in February 2026, she was made the Vice President of BJP Yuva Morcha. Now the question arises that why is there an atmosphere of resentment in the party due to Ankita getting the ticket.

What is the reason for the dispute?
Dissatisfaction has arisen within the party after Ankita Parmar got the ticket from Por seat of Vadodara District Panchayat because the first contender for this seat was Nayana Parmar. For this reason, there is opposition to giving ticket to Ankita. Now Nayana Parmar is preparing to contest the elections as an independent and can make a dent in the votes of Ankita Parmar.

There may be a tough contest between Nayana Parmar and Ankita Parmar in the local elections of Gujarat. On one side, there is Nayana Parmar, who has a good hold at the grassroots level and who has already made her special identity among the general public. On the other hand, there is Ankita Parmar, who has millions of followers on Instagram and she is currently campaigning vigorously. In such a situation, speculations are being made that both the candidates can cut into each other’s votes.
