Mumbai Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday claimed that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intends to ensure that no ‘Marathi man’ becomes the mayor of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Speaking to the media, Raut alleged that the BJP wants to harm the Marathi people.

Strategy to invite outside leaders

Earlier, BJP leader Kripashankar Singh had talked about electing Hindi speaking mayor in Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. Reacting to this, Raut called it a conspiracy by BJP. Singh’s statement was not made without any motive, rather it was a strategy to create an atmosphere among outsiders against Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). Along with this, Raut said that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary will be brought to campaign for BJP in the civic elections.

Marathi manush with us

Raut said that the BJP has decided that there should not be a Marathi mayor in Mumbai or anywhere else. His plan is that no Marathi man should lead Mumbai in BMC. But Marathi Manush stands firmly with Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS.

nothing to do with pride

This comment comes just two weeks before the municipal elections. Raut said that BJP is not the party which works for the pride of Maharashtra. This has nothing to do with the United Maharashtra issue. Let us tell you that elections will be held for 29 municipal corporations on January 15, which also includes BMC. It was ruled by the undivided Shiv Sena from 1997 to 2022. This election is considered to be one of the toughest contests for Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS.
